Tarra Layne....southern soul/blues vocalist from LA releases new single "Cherry Moonshine"

Tarra Layne is a pop/southern soul artist based out of LA who is regularly acclaimed for her strong, soulful timbre and heartfelt writing. She has just released a new single called "Cherry Moonshine", a foot-stompin', hand-clappin' southern rock tune about letting go and following your heart wherever its ride takes you.

Her sound is very blues-influenced. She has had the pleasure of being part of a blues project based out of Minneapolis, performing on a record with Steve Cropper, Sonny T, Jellybean Johnson to name a few. She's also been very lucky to have recently hit the studio, recording two of her original songs, with Leland Sklar, Waddy Wachtel, and Russ Kunkel. Lastly, she was recently nominated for and won an award for Best Female Vocalist (and performed) at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards at the Fonda Theater.

"TARRA LAYNE RESIDES IN A PLACE WHERE HOME-GROWN SOUL MEETS SULTRY POP/ROCK 'N ROLL. THIS RED-HEADED BLUES BROAD WILL RATTLE YOUR EMOTIONS AND FREE YOUR RAW REBELLIOUS SIDE."

Marty's review: Tarra Layne's new single is raunchy, gutsy and penetrates the mind, heart and soul. She doesn't hold back and gives it all with a sound that is made to be noticed and heard. Discover what Tarra is all about and you will agree she has what it takes!

The Boom Band...Blues,Southern Rock,Country...musicians collective from UK new CD release campaign

The Boom Band is a collective of musicians from the UK, each with their own individual projects on the go, but coming together to form a band with everyone singing, writing and boasting four guitarists! They have launched an Indiegogo campaign and they NEED YOUR HELP to raise funding for the manufacture and promotion of their debut CD.

The Boom Band was put together in 2013 by guitarist Matt Taylor (The Motives/Snowy White Blues Project) and drummer Steve Rushton (Imelda May/Jeff Beck) having played several gigs together in 2012. They set about hand-picking members of the band, each asked to collaborate not only as musicians but as songwriters and front-men, with every member having experience of leading their own bands. The resulting unique line-up features the rapidly rising British blues star and current front-man of the legendary Ten Years After, Marcus Bonfanti on guitar and vocals and Jon Amor, well know on the British and European blues scene for his work with The Hoax, as well as his solo projects. Mark Butcher is the former Surrey and England International cricketer who is now more often seen wielding a guitar than a bat, has a solo album and several live appearances at the Royal Albert Hall under his belt and can list Eric Clapton and Bob Harris among his supporters! Mark completes the unprecedented four-guitar line up of The Boom Band but as if that wasn't enough they also feature the great talents of Paddy Milner, veteran of Jack Bruce's Big Blues Band and widely considered the best blues piano player in Europe and described as such by Blues Access Magazine in the states. ....click here to find out more

The Igniters to Perform at Nov 7 Reunion Show at the Syria Shrine in Cheswick, PA.

The Igniters, a rock/R'n'B band with deep roots in the Pittsburgh music scene, will perform a special "Varsity House Reunion Show" on November 7 at the Syria Shrine in Cheswick, PA.

The band, formed in the mid-1960s and reunited in 2010, will be joined on stage by several former members to deliver a wide range of material, including songs they performed for packed houses as regular headliners at Oakmont's famous Varsity House. The club was once the most popular underage venue in Pittsburgh and served as a springboard for many local groups. The Igniters will also play songs from their current repertoire of original compositions and classic blues, R'n'B, rock and soul numbers.

The original Igniters are considered a music incubator, spawning dozens of now-legendary Pittsburgh artists. Today's lineup includes the band's founder Bubs McKeg on guitar, Frank Czuri on lead vocals and percussion, Bob Breide on guitar, Paul Martello on drums and vocals, Fred Delu on keyboards, and Ray Falcsik on bass and vocals. All of these artists have either formed or performed with renowned Pittsburgh acts like The Jaggerz, Diamond Reo, The Silencers, Pure Gold, Sweet Lightnin', Magpie, Borrowed Thyme, and Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners.

Special guests Shot O' Soul will open the Varsity House Reunion Show. A cash bar will be open, and food will be available for purchase.

For more information, phone (412) 952-3629, or visit The Igniters' website at www.igniterspgh.com.

Jane Lee Hooker, all-women NYC blues band, release new album "No B!" and single "Wade In the Water"

Jane Lee Hooker is a band of five women from New York City who take traditional blues on a fast and rough ride. Their self-released debut, No B!, will be available in November.
The band’s calling cards are songs by Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Johnny Winter, Big Mama Thornton, and other blues greats—all fed through double lead guitars, a heavy rhythm section, and soul-scouring vocals.

These women are by no means new to the game. Between the five band members, they have decades of experience playing, recording and touring both nationally and internationally. Individually, the members of Jane Lee Hooker have played for thousands of fans while sharing bills with the likes of Motörhead, MC5, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Deep Purple, among others. And they’ve played more club gigs in more cities than even they can believe.

So how’d this gang of pros finally find each other?

Guitarists Tracy and Tina honed their mutual love of blazing dual leads during their time together in Helldorado in the ’90s. From there, Tracy joined Nashville Pu$$y, Tina joined Bad Wizard, and both women toured the world. But when their time with those bands ended, they realized they really missed the rush of trading guitar solos with each other and leaving audiences howling with joy and disbelief.

But first they needed a band.

They quickly recruited Mary, who had played bass with Tracy in the punk band the Wives. Melissa sat behind the drum kit and got the nod before she even finished slamming out the first song of her audition. And no singer in the entire city can bring a crowd to its knees harder or faster than Dana Danger Athens.

The band is a loud, blistering blues monster capable of whispering in your ear before stomping on your heart.

Are you ready? It’s time to get a load of Jane Lee Hooker.
