Paul Winn Band...blues/rock outfit from Sydney clocks up 147,00 YouTube views

"Down So Long" - Paul Winn Band

Humble Beginnings - When asked about how the band got together, the guys confess that "we all first met while performing in a dodgy production of the musical Grease. Hopefully our music doesn’t resemble anything from Grease… not that there’s anything wrong with that."

In 2004, they recorded their self-titled debut album which had more of a singer/songwriter feel to it. Since then, the album has been played on radio throughout Australia, Europe and the USA. Their music has also been featured in Australian films and TV.

"This is a record with the self-confidence to swear off a producer's bells and whistles and to lovingly embrace songsmithing and, above all, melody."

Todd Beemis (Indie-music).

They have also just released a new "live" album. Read more and stream their music here: www.paulwinnband.com

Brighton (UK) based Alt/Blues trio STARK release STORIES FROM THE GROUND March 4th

With their unorthodox blend of old and new influences, ranging from 1930s American blues to British progressive rock, Stark defies categorization. For the last three years, this Brighton-based trio has been honing their songwriting and performance skills, recording, producing and releasing their own music - to huge critical acclaim. Their infectious melodies, profoundly poetic lyrics and unique arrangements have won Stark a dedicated and growing fan base.

A heavy touring schedule and frequent festival appearances including the Tenby Blues Festival, Brighton Fringe Festival and The Alternative Escape has began to put Stark on the map. Since the release of their debut EP, ‘Where the Grey Slates Meet’, they have built a strong following and gained a reputation for their superlative musicianship. The band's latest release, Stories From The Ground, sees them move up another gear - 2014 is set to be an exciting year.

On January 1st 2014, Stark released the first track from their latest release, Let’s Fall Down Together for free on Soundcloud. This was a result of an online vote where the fans could choose which track would be the first free download from Stories From The Ground.

A mini album launch has also been confirmed for Stark on March 4th 2014 at The Prince Albert, Brighton. Details and line up to be confirmed soon.

Tour Dates:

Rick Randlett...blues man from Florida releases acoustic flavored album

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Rick Randlett has been part of the Florida blues scene for more than 15 years. After many years fronting his three piece electric band, Rick has released his second acoustic flavored album. 'Nothing To Do' showcases the many sides of Rick's songwriting. From the opening riff of "Heart Made of Stone" to the lap steel flavored musings of "I Wonder" and the vocal and resonator piece "Full Moon", Rick takes us on a tour of acoustic blue styles with a decidedly non-traditional approach.

Special notice must be given to the title song a duet with Pete Karnes, former harmonica player with John Lee Hooker. This relaxed, funny song takes the listener back to the classic duets of the Piedmont masters. If you love acoustic blues, give Rick Randlett a listen. Let his weathered voice and emotional songs wash over you and soon you'll be telling everyone about this album!

Musicians:
Rick Randlett - vocals, guitars, dobro, lap steel
Mitch Rogers - Bass Guitar
Donny Weatherford - drums, wasboard, guitar case
Special Guest: Pete "King" Karnes - harmonica
Produced by Donny Weatherford

Marty's review: If you need to understand what blues and roots music is about, then "Nothing To Do", the latest album by Rick Randlett, is a good lesson in this musical genre. Rick's laid back, acoustic style blues has all the elements of traditional blues but with a contemporary feel. The sliding sounds of the dobro and lap steel, the percussion of the washboard and "guitar case", the slow wailing harmonica plus Rick's slightly raspy vocals, all combine to make this an enjoyable listen from start to finish. The production by Donny Weatherford is simple yet slick and does not complicate Rick's songwriting in any way. It's an album that encourages repeated plays and you'll enjoy it whilst relaxing on the front porch or having a few cold ones with good friends.
