Willie Jackson is a native son of Savannah, Georgia, and music has been a huge part of his life. Willie’s early years in church had him well-acquainted with music as vital to the human experience. He often found himself playing drums, singing in choirs, raising hymns and providing whatever music was necessary-whether or not he had the training!
Willie has always been a prolific songwriter in his free time while working to support his family. A tragic accident in 2009 ended his previous career and he turned to the transcendence of music with song writing and learning bass guitar.
Willie’s original music combines his clever lyrics with rhythms of South Georgia’s traditional soul stirring blues. He recently released an EP featuring six original songs combining elements of traditional blues with musings on contemporary life and living.
Willie can be heard at various venues in the Coastal Empire; sometimes with a three-piece group, while other times he has four or five musicians to accompany his powerful blues vocals. He has shared the stage with Mac Arnold, former bass player for the legendary Muddy Waters and accomplished blues musician in his own right, at the Stage on Bay. His passionate live performances are sure to engage the audience and create an intimate space for enjoyment. The crowd is treated to covers of some of the greats such as Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eric Clapton, along with Willie’s latest original songs.
