Jarkka Rissanen and Sons of The Desert new release "Hybrid Soul"...R'n'B, prog-rock and ethnic vibes

Jarkka Rissanen and his band Sons of The Desert have recently released their new album Hybrid Soul. After last year's highly acclaimed traditional blues and gospel record, The 20th Century Box, Jarkka Rissanen returns with a full-lengther of original, self-composed material, crammed with rhythm'n'blues, prog rock and ethnic vibes.

The band is formed around Jarkka Rissanen (guitar), Markus Väisänen (guitar), Tatu Back (bass guitar) and Esa Kärki (drums).

Slide guitar master Jarkka Rissanen just celebrated his 60th year birthday in 2016 and after some forty-odd years of constant playing and touring he truly has become a legend in the Finnish roots music circuits. During the years he has played with many famous Finnish artists and bands like Finnforrest, Rauli Badding, Remu Aaltonen, Eero Raittinen, Pepe Ahlqvist etc. Hybrid Soul will be Rissanen's fifth solo record.

Marty's review: Hybrid Soul is an all instrumental affair featuring the master guitar talents of Jarkka Rissanen backed by his sterling of band of seasoned musicians. The 10 all original tracks are a progressive style blues rock with world music elements including reggae and R'n'B. The production is superb and has an all round sound that encompasses the many talents of this outfit.
