Kamchatka...Swedish heavy blues outfit new album release "Long Road Made of Gold"

After the success of their previous album, "The Search Goes On", Kamchatka's 6th album, "Long Road Made of Gold" is due for release in May 2015 on Despotz Records. 10 brand new Kamchatka tunes, this time mixed and mastered by UK’s finest, Russ Russell.

Same but different is a good description of the new Kamchatka album. Thomas Juneor Anderssons soulful vocals and bluesy fretboard work is intact. The same goes for Tobias Strandviks tasteful drumming with nods to both classic and progressive rock. Per Wibergs bass roars way down below and there’s no mistake telling what band is blasting out of the speakers, yet there’s something new going on.

When listening to Long Road Made of Gold you can really tell this is a band who took their time to make a great album, not a bunch of songs thrown together. There’s a certain playfulness to this album, both in the performance as well as the song arrangements that has a stronger presence than before.

Buckle up and get ready for a joyous a ride as Kamchatka take the listener to a couple of places the band never visited before without losing it’s trademark sound. Album opener Take Me Back Home starts with a banjo to underline the journeyman vibe and then twists and turns into a grooving progressive riff fest. The album title is a combination of two songs this time, the sly blues chanting bottleneck song Long Road and the ferocious shuffle beat of Made Of Gold. There’s no lack of uptempo rockers either and the first single Get Your Game On is surely proof of this with it’s steady beat and uplifting sing-a-long chorus.

Kamchatka is
Per Wiberg – bass/vocals
Tobias Strandvik – drums
Thomas “Juneor” Andersson – guitar/vocals

Ed Muirhead...Dundee singer, songwriter, piano champ, releases new album "Day Job"

New-fashioned Folksongs about love and life, people and places.

Singer-songwriter, Ed Muirhead, is from Dundee, Scotland. He has just released his new album "Day Job" with his band, The Banter. The album consists of 12 tracks of blues, roots and more plus a few bonuses on the limited run of CDs.  His last album was Simple Life in 2013, and the new album has a fuller band sound this time, with drums, bass, brass section & harmonica by Gav McGinty (of Sinderins/AMWF).

This summer Ed plans to give up his day job as an engineer for 17 years to study music therapy & do loads more with music.

Marty's review: I have had the pleasure to sample 4 tracks of this new album. Combining instruments such as acoustic guitar, piano, organ, brass and harmonica, Ed and The Banter present us with a sound that is rootsy and uncluttered, and also simple but polished production. "High Girder" is a brisk, uptempo number that tells the story of the Tay Bridge collapse of 1879 and Ed wrote it last year while walking his dog near the bridge every day. They used the grand piano at Dundee University and managed to get locked in the day they recorded! "Hard" is an acoustic guitar only backing combined with Ed's slightly whimsical vocals and lyrics ("The harder I work, the luckier I get/This journey is long, but it's not over yet"). "Daisy" is about love that is new and promising, and "Well Worthwhile" is more about being grateful and thankful for the love you have ("You've turned my life around/Used to be so lost and now I'm found"). The brass backing on 2 of these tracks is jaunty yet subtle and gives the sound a fullness that is welcoming. Ed's vocals are reminiscent of artists like Tom Waits and A J Croce and this album I'm sure will find him many new fans.

The album is out on Tattie Records.

Kwame Binea...Shakedown...Roots Rock with Funk and Soul

They say a man walks a long road before finding his path.  Kwame Binea has been paving his way through the art of music.  Born Nana Kwame Biney Asiedu Agyemfra in West London to a single Ghanaian mother, he soon moved to Ghana to live with his grandparents, where music became his passion. He was influenced by the rhythms of traditional Ghanaian and West African music as well as Reggae, Folk, and American Soul and Blues.

Kwame Binea's electrifying live performances with the solid musicianship of his band, the 'Uptown Shakedown,' built a following as diverse as New York City. His fans were able to watch him perform all over iconic New York City music venues including Brooklyn Bowl, Mercury Lounge, Rockwood Music Hall, Sullivan Hall, The Bitter End, Kenny’s Castaway and their Summer Residency at Arlene’s Grocery as well as shows across the East Coast.

Kwame, the singer/songwriter, has made his home in Harlem, New York where he continues to spread the message of peace, love and music.  His strength in music has been shaped by the diversity of cultures he has experienced, and his passion and intensity of spreading positivity through Music are symbols of who Kwame Binea is.

“My music is organic,” says Kwame, “it’s about life, love and struggle, but it’s danceable. We make music that moves you and that makes you move.”

His latest release is "Let Go", a rock/funk/soul song that lyrically invokes and offers an inspired message that the best way to overcome a spurned lover or lingering adversity is to think positive, know when it's time to move on and just let go. Kwame is currently putting the finishing touches on his first solo EP, Rock & Roll Shakedown.

Blues man Nelsen Adelard new album "Voodou By You" released on Blue Track Records

Blue Track Records is proud to announce Nelsen Adelard’s sixth album : “Voodou By You”. Nelsen’s new release is a sweet mix of Blues, Blues Rock and down home Acoustic Blues.

Born into a show business family, Nelsen was already a professional musician at 15. A true "Blues Journeyman" Nelsen earned his stripes playing tough, gritty joints and taverns of the East Coast Blues Circuit. He opened for and shared the stage with such greats as Muddy Waters, James Cotton, Matt "Guitar" Murphy and Pine Top Perkins. Inspired by these legends, Nelsen developed a melodic driving style on both guitar and harmonics. A world class blues vocalist, Nelsen's voice is truly an expressive instrument. Striking the right balance of torment, and tenderness so essential to this style.

For the new 2015 album "Voodou By You", Nelsen hooked up with his old friend and band mate, Jon Puhl. Puhl brought with him a tight rhythm section of Mick Donner on bass and Phil Christman on drums. There’s even a guest appearance of Nelsen’s old friend and Sax Monster Mark Norris on a few tracks.

The album is a smoking example of their combined talents. Excellent performances, great riffs and a no nonsense approach to modern Blues. Mixed and mastered by Richard Robinson, "Voodou By You" is another notch on Nelsen's metaphoric Blues belt that is guaranteed to keep you listening.

Marty's review: "A Testament to the Blues"..What can I say about a man who has obviously paid his dues and honed his talents to produce an album that, in my opinion, is a testament to modern and traditional blues music. With scorching guitar licks, searing harmonica, a solid rhythm section and up front vocals that belt out Nelsen's lyrics about life, friends and what is close to his heart, this album is a must for your collection that will earn repeated plays.

NYC gritty Americana trio "Ten Ton Man"..raw, intense roots..upcoming EP release

Americana band Ten Ton Man are a trio of music veterans whose music has been getting rave reviews from all over the blogosphere in the US and UK. Fronted by baritone/guitarist Paul Livornese, they have been compared favorably to Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Neil Young.  The Aquarian calls them "a well-oiled machine" from whom you can "expect a home run hit."  Rock Bandom describes their music as "vocally superb, lyrically supreme and the music is pure honest blues/rock.” Mad Mackerel calls their single "Lifesaver" a "perfect example of their gritty, tense, and sometimes downright morose Americana, delivering a perfect juxtaposition of catchy melody and ultimately downbeat lyrics."

Marty's verdict: raw, gritty, intense and with firm tentacles in roots music, Ten Ton Man prick your ears up and open the mind to a wall of visual sound that is also dark and brooding and demands your attention..so pay them plenty!

They are planning to release a new EP this fall.  Check out some of their music on soundcloud from their debut album and last EP Chunk of Change below:
