Elles Bailey new EP release "Who Am I To Me"...raunchy blues with passion

Elles Bailey hails from Bristol, UK. Herself and her band have just finished a 20 date tour through the UK and Europe promoting the release of her new EP produced by Brian Banks (Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie) which was released 23rd Feb 2015.

"I mix the sound of the blues with a contemporary edge to it and Songwriting Magazine called this EP - "A smokey blues rock record that fizzles with pop appeal".."

You can hear the EP at soundcloud here

Marty's review: Elles shines through on this EP with 4 scorching tracks that highlight her passionate, raunchy vocals with tight, electric blues licks that create a surround sound that reverberates around your ears and shakes the foundations. With a slick production that isn't over commercial, the tracks cover upbeat smoky blues numbers "Who Am I to Me", "Heart Go Ooh" and "Howlin' Wolf" and the country tinged ballad "Take Me Back". Definitely one for repeated play....

You can also hear and see them live from a recent gig on the tour (The Convent Club, Stroud) below..

"An amazing singing voice....here is a young girl willing to work hard and earn peoples respect and appreciation" Steve Mellen - The Post

"A smokey blues rock record that fizzles with pop appeal" Damien Girling, Songwriting Magazine

'Bailey’s voice is really rather good. Like, stunningly good. She is the guardian of a soulful, honey-soaked howl freighted by a gravelly, smoky kind of gravity.' Jamie Harper, Soundcheck

'A swaggering, funky undertone laced with a husky, bluesy, soulful voice that permeates images of sitting in a smoke-filled bar, listening to Etta James.' South Sonic

Echo Sparks was started by DA Valdez (member of the national touring and recording act, The Pontiac Brothers). He formed the band as an outlet for his original songs. The BMI published songwriter joined up with local vocalist CC Kinnick and the two formed a duo performing at a variety of venues around Orange County. They added bass player Cindy Ballreich to form a solid trio that has become the nucleus of their sound. After more than three years of performing at bars, restaurants, and festivals they have honed their craft and created a signature sound of sparkling instrumentation and tight vocal harmonies. The bands' songs create images and stories that transcend time and place - songs for every mood.

In 2013 the band recorded an EP with four songs. They have now completed "Ghost Town Girl", their first full length album.

Frank Viele...blues/soul singer-songwriter new album release "Fall Your Way"

Connecticut blues/soul singer-songwriter, Frank Viele, is set to release his new album Fall Your Way on April 7th 2015. We have featured Frank previously on this blog (click here to go original post).

The album features a terrific line-up of artists, including world-renowned guitarist Joe Bonamassa (currently on a worldwide tour) and three members from the popular funk-fusion band Kung Fu.

Frank Viele put himself on the map as a professionally touring musician, touring over 100 dates each year both as a soloist and with his band, opening for Ingrid Michaelson, Foreigner, The Marshall Tucker Band, Blues Traveler, The Wailers and Brett Michaels among other major acts.  It's no surprise that he won the 2014 New England Music Award for Best Live Act of the Year.

Marty's review: Combining passionate, soulful, slightly raspy vocals with a HOT, brassy, funky, tight and raunchy backup, Frank Viele has come up with an album that makes you sit up right off the bat. With a good mix of upbeat, full on numbers and acoustic ballads, the 13 tracks Frank delivers on this album are well crafted and sung from not only from the heart, but with a whole lotta soul! Frank wears his heart on his sleeve and this shows up in his lyrics which he produces with much gusto. Give Frank a listen, you won't be disappointed.

Caddy Cooper new album ‘ Outside the Wire’..Acoustic Blues, Country and Folk

West Australian Acoustic Blues, Country and Folk singer-songwriter, Caddy Cooper, is a travelling soul at heart. After a year dotting across the globe from a British military tour in Afghanistan through Australia, Europe, India, festivals, extensive radio play and a tour spanning the length and breadth of Britain promoting her critically acclaimed debut album, Snapshot, Caddy returns in 2015 to do it all again with her band and a brand new album entitled Outside the Wire.

After training at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Music Theatre, Caddy played featured roles in musicals such as The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof and A Chorus Line. Caddy has performed in major theatres across the UK, Ireland and Australia and for the likes of Sir Richard Attenborough, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall, the West Australian Agent General Kerry Sanderson and a number of BBC television personalities.

She was the lyricist and composer behind Australian pop sensation ‘ENVY’s singles Fever Fever Fever and Monster in Me and was awarded a prestigious Honourable Mention in the International Song of the Year Competition for her urban composition Tender Heart (Teenage Girl) in 2012.

"Outside the Wire" Marty's review:
From the opening country shuffle of "Get On Board" to the rollicking blues of "I Be Leaving You" and the acapella/doo-wop track "I Love You In the Morning", Caddy Cooper has combined all the elements of country, blues and folk roots in an album that shines from start to finish. Definitely and "all-killer, no-filler" effort, Caddy's crisp and eloquent vocals combined with a HOT backup band that includes searing and twangy guitar licks, a shuffling back beat, "front porch" harmonica, complimenting backup harmonies and 2 stand out duets with Paul Carella. Caddy's songwriting skills are exceptional, well crafted and tell stories that will make you sit up and listen.

Trying to pick a favorite track is a challenge but I'll mention the slow blues of the title track "Outside the Wire" and the country tinged "Far To Go". There is something here for all roots fans with an album that is polished without sounding commercial and deserving of repeated listens.

Sydney blues singer/guitarist Gareth Jay releases knock-out self-titled EP

Gareth Jay is an emerging Australian blues musician, and he has just released his self titled EP which promises to provide a delicate taste of Blues for those who crave it.

The EP presents a collection of original songs which act as an introduction to Gareth Jay. He encapsulates deep and traditional Blues with his emotive vocals and his intricate guitar skills. It demonstrates the range of his unique, creative style and his technical skills. Writing his own music, and producing his own tracks, Gareth Jay finds his home in Blues but takes inspiration from Jazz, Indie, Rock, and Classical. These styles have a place in these compositions and can be noted in his harmonies, layering of guitar and overall feel.

Most often you will see him performing live with a loop pedal. This allows him to construct guitar and vocal harmonies on the fly, which has of course imprinted on his recorded compositions. A well rounded taster EP, acting teaser to Gareth Jay's first full album expected May 2015.

Track listing
1. Crave
2. Fiend
3. It’s Not Me, It's You
4. Tease Me
5. Why Don't You Just

"Aussie blues is as strong as ever, thanks to emerging talents like Gareth Jay." Tone Deaf

Bafe's Factory from Finland proudly presents "Southpaw Steel'n'Twang"

Bafe's Factory from Finland proudly presents "Southpaw Steel'n'Twang" with Ville "Lefty" Leppänen and their record "Hale's Pleasure Railway" - the record has received very good reviews in media all over the world.

SST are a power trio consisting of three seasoned musicians. The band concentrates mostly on instrumental music, focus is often on pedal and lap steel guitars while Stratocaster and Telecaster also give their sound to the gumbo.

"Ripping out of Helsinki, Finland, come Southpaw Steel ‘n’ Twang, a three-piece instrumental (for the most part) ensemble rooted in the earthy sounds of southern American music, the blues prevalent but also a jazz bent in there too, a real gumbo, as they call it, of sounds and sonic spices."
