Scarlette Fever Spreads West: UK Rocker Scarlette to Join 2015 Passport Approved West Coast USA Tour in Feb and March

Since emerging in 2011, the UK’s Scarlette has built a solid live following via support tours with Caro Emerald, Mike & The Mechanics, and Roachford.

Scarlette has scored consecutive BBC Radio 2 playlists for her singles “Crash & Burn” and “Elated.” “We have fluffy pop princesses aplenty, so it’s about time we had a proper rock chick,” cooed Star Magazine of Scarlette. Positive reviews have also appeared in the Daily Mirror, Daily Star, Music Week, NME and Popjustice.

Scarlette’s recently announced slot on the Passport Approved West Coast USA Tour will not be her first venture to the Pacific. She has performed multiple times at the Hard Rock Café in Hollywood and the legendary Viper Room on the Sunset Strip, resulting in her 2013 EP Single White Female.

That record was produced by acclaimed collaborators Steve Lironi (Hanson, Bon Jovi), Tommy Faragher (Dusty Springfield, Al Green), Pete Craigie (Bellowhead, Seth Lakeman), and Ash Howes (Texas, Ellie Goulding).

“A riotous and fierce romp of jangling guitars, pounding drums, and stadium-filler choruses.” Star Magazine

Scarlette recently released a stunning cover of Erasure’s classic “A Little Respect,” in celebration of the legalization of same-sex marriage – a momentous occasion close to Scarlette’s heart since she came out in 2014.

Scarlette has since been writing and recording her new album, Attack of the 6ft Woman. The record is co-produced by Scarlette and Julian Emery (Lissie) and Paul Simm (Neneh Cherry,) as well as by Cenzo Townshend (Snow Patrol, Florence and The Machine) and Pete Craigie as remixers.

More information on Scarlette is available on her official site.

Joe Cherry...blues-rock artist from Virginia release and video for "Tears"

Joe Cherry is from Virginia Beach, Virginia. He grew up in the church singing and playing quartet style music. His father was a Pentecostal preacher. He sings what he feels. He wrote a lot of music in prison and was real heavy in the street life, so a lot of his music has that feel. He is a fan of Howlin' Wolf, The Gospel Keynotes, Mahalia Jackson, Jays, Pusha T, Bobby Womack, Kanye West and John Lee Hooker. All of these people influenced his style of blues and blues-rock

Check out his new video for "Tears". Just CLICK on the picture below....or go direct from here

New album "Sunshine Nights" by Brooklyn Indie Roots duo, Sunshine, released today with 1000 FREE downloads

Brooklyn Indie Roots duo, Sunshine (aka Amy Santos and Steven Ferrara) and their 7 piece live band, The Knights, have today released their 2nd album, "Sunshine Nights".

Sunshine have been featured on this blog previously (click here to see recent post) and we have followed their career closely as they progress and develop with their unique and distinctive Indie-Roots sounds.

Marty's review: Sunshine have taken their influences of traditional jazz, blues and Americana and have created what I would term a "roots celebration". "Sunshine Nights" sounds like it has come straight out of the Mississippi Delta or New Orleans. From the acoustic blues of "Moonbeam Days" to the upbeat and rollicking latest single "Bowl O'Cherries", this album has everything from New Orleans style brass, gospel harmonies, country blues, slide guitars, driving piano and bluesy vocals that sway and swing with each lyric. Trying to pick a favorite track is a challenge, and mine are the bluesy "American Folklore" and the brassy "This Train". Fans of Americana and roots music with devour this album and it certainly deserves repeated listens.

The album can be downloaded here and the first 1000 downloads will be FREE.

Liz and the Lofty Things - ‘Your Waltz’ - Out 9th February 2015

“Your Waltz” is the debut single released by folk group Liz and the Lofty Things. The 4 piece folk group is headed up by Liz Williams, a Canadian born, London dwelling songwriter, guitarist and singer.

Liz started playing/writing music at the age of 5 in Toronto, influenced by Tori Amos, Ani Difranco, Ella Fitzgerald and folk greats like James Taylor. At the age of 17 Liz moved to Italy where she studied photography and Italian in a medieval town in Abruzzo. After taking some time to explore Europe on her own she came to London where she lived in a hostel for over a year, hearing stories from other travelers and meeting like-minded musicians.

Liz met the Lofty Things (Katie, Chris, Kylie and Corinna) over the course of a few years and the group formed in 2012. They have been playing shows all over the UK including Guilfest, Weyfest, Dukestock and various other festivals in the SE.

Your Waltz is the first single from LLT’s debut album Confessions of the Seasons (out Spring 2015). The overwhelmingly heart-warming love song is accompanied by a softly beautiful video shot at Joss Bay. The album was co-produced by singer-songwriter Liz Williams and Mark Estall (their hearts were full of spring, GCP, Jimmy Hickmott). Each song from the album focuses on insightful storytelling, expressed through a careful choice of instrumentation and arrangement of each song.

“Liz from Liz and the Lofty Things has evolved from a first-class solo singer song-writer into a fresh and exciting songstress backed by a supreme band of outstanding musicians. Their debut single 'Your Waltz' embodies all of these attributes and I can't wait to hear more.” - David Durant - Under The Radar Live Sessions (Brooklands Radio)

Funky Blues Rockers, FOX STREET, Drop "AIN'T EASY," the First Single from Upcoming LP

Recognized as one of the hardest working rock and roll bands in the Colorado music scene, Fox Street is on the move with debut single "Ain't Easy" premiering on Glide Magazine.  Having been voted Denver's "Best Traditional Rock Band" at the 2013 Westword Music Showcase, their honky tonk blues-rock sound is unlike anything you've heard before.

Fox Street has spent the past five years playing countless shows and touring coast to coast. Within this period they have also worked with studio engineer and producer Josh Fairman, recording two full length albums Welcome to Mighty Pleasin' (2010) and Tough Talk (2013).

Since the release of these albums, Fox Street has gained recognition from all over and is excited to be dropping "Ain't Easy", the first single from their third upcoming LP.

More Information:
(New York, NY) Devastatingly funky rock band, Fox Street, is gearing up for their third album release this coming spring. Voted Denver’s “Best Traditional Rock Band” at the 2013 Westword Music Showcase, the Denver-based outfit also played headlining shows for packed houses at The Bluebird Theater and Larimer Lounge. On January 16th 2015, the band will return to the Bluebird Theater with Todd Smallie (J.J. Grey & MoFro, The Derek Trucks Band).

Since their inception in 2008, Fox Street has maintained a relentless coast-to-coast tour schedule, sharing the stage with Tedeschi Trucks Band, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Little Feat, The New Mastersounds, Stanton Moore and many others. This past year, they also completed their first European tour. Somehow, they’ve still found the time to craft two internationally acclaimed, self-produced, full-length albums – Welcome to Mighty Pleasin’ and Tough Talk – with Denver engineer/producer Josh Fairman (New Mastersounds, Ivan Neville, Kinetix).

Colorado Music Buzz named Fox Street amongst the "best jam bands" in Colorado, praising their fusion of “honky-tonk inspired soul sound in with the funky freshness of the jam scene,” and declaring, “Fox Street is a top band to watch in 2014." You won’t want to miss out on any information about Fox Street, so make sure to stay connected by visiting their website HERE. While you wait for their release, you can stream their previous albums HERE.
